Institute Objectives

  1. Develop Policies and Practices: Participants will learn to develop and implement policies that encourage the acceptance and support of neurodivergent and disabled students. The program focuses on best practice, including the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  2. Build Capacity of All School Community Members: The Institute equips attendees with evidence-based practices to support neurodivergent learners. It fosters a deeper understanding of how different diagnoses and learning profiles impact students’ needs, informing both admissions decisions and appropriate support systems.
  3. Foster a Collaborative Culture and Community of Acceptance: The program aims to foster a school-wide culture where all staff believes in every student’s potential for success. It encourages teamwork among student service departments, general education teachers, and school leaders.
  4. Develop Expertise in Every School: Participants will explore strategies for recruiting faculty and discuss financial models to support best practices.
  5. Promote a Global Community of Disability Advocates: The Office of Overseas Schools and SENIA International believe that expanding and enhancing programs that will serve all students requires all of us to support and collaborate with individuals and schools striving to create successful  learning communities.
